Community Resources: Things that are going on in the guilds, current contests and events, ect… will be put here.

So we were excited about Guild Missions right? Well the concerns in my previous post; AMD-ICBM: Our Greatest Asset is You,
were warranted. Anet as a hard time understanding even the basics of how they go about things is greatly breaking the foundation they built that had cracks in the first place, but they insist on building on top of the cracked foundation. Placing more and more weight, instead of fixing/patching what is already in place.

First I would like to thank everyone who is continuing to participate in the Guild Wars 2 guild and helping out, with creating and maintaining more party grouping for the various things to do in the game. Which I am pleased to say this is most of the members of the guild. I do notice these things, the more you keep representing and participating the quicker you will be recognized for your efforts by the leadership. Our natural influence gain is far more better than it was before, thank you.

Now we do have a problem, everyone does not represent at all times, or has their home server not being Janthir. This is an issue for gaining more influence then it really should be. However I stand by my unwritten policy, to not dictate if people should be doing such things 100% of the time.

The more you tighten your grip, Tarkin, the more star systems will slip through your fingers.

Now some of us want to do these guild missions and I wish to be able to provide all content this game has to offer to the those who want to be here. The only way I see this happening in a short period of time is if we work on another aspect the game that offers influence, this is through the Guild Promoter. This Non-Player Character (NPC)  allows us to use gold and straight up buy influence for the current guild you are representing.

Those who donate influence using Letters and Drinks, does get recorded in a game log and in turn we use this information to mark your account of your donations on a regular basis, these are the people who earn the Specialist rank. I am grateful for these regular donations towards the guilds influence.

What I am proposing though is a donation drive to generate an increase  in influence intake.  We need a large amount of influence to be  able to unlock the new content towards missions.

To unlock everything we will need:

  • Art of War 5 = 20,000
  • Art of War 6 = 30,000
  • Bounty = 30,000
  • Challenge = 50,000
  • Economy 5 = 20,000
  • Economy 6 = 30,000
  • Trek = 50,000
  • Politics 5 = 20,000
  • Politics 6 = 30,000
  • Rush = 50,000
  • Architecture 6 = 30,000
  • Puzzle = 50,000
  • Total = 410,000

This does not include the merits we need, which requires doing a lot of bounties at first. However guild events through out the weeks and months should get us to the other guild missions eventually.

The Donation Drive, How will it Work?

Starting from March 1st to March 30th, 2013 anyone who is recorded to donating influence to the guild or gold to the guild bank  of any amount, will receive first my personal thank you. Not enough? Well how about anyone who donates influence or donates gold will be given the opportunity to do the guild missions?

Even if we all just donated 1 gold towards influence, that would be 59 gold total which would give us 30,000 influence, enough to unlock the guild bounty missions.
No still not enough?

How about this, anyone who donates up to 10,000 influence or up to 20 gold in the guild bank will be entered into a raffle. This amount can be accumulative over time through out the month, the total of your donations will be added up.

What is the prize?

I will run any guild event of your choice, in April. You pick the time and day it takes place on, and I will run it 4 times through out the month, once per week.

Wanted  that new armor from that dungeon? Need that level 10 Fractals beat? Well why not have the whole entire guild and the full influence of the guild leader, do all the work for you?

Oh! Did I mention you get shot gun and first seat on these events that were made and chosen by you.

 Raffle

Will release how the raffle will work later, as I am trying to figure out a way to do this with it being fair. As Guild Wars 2 at this time for what ever reason does not have a /roll capability like Guild Wars 1  had for these types of things.

At the end of the month, people who qualify will be Private Messaged on the Site and asked to pick a number, the method in  how the winning number will be picked is still ongoing.

Donations will be checked frequently those who donate and qualify for the contest will be message early and get to pick their numbers earlier.

What if you donate 20,000 influence or 40 gold, or even triple that? Well you get triple the picks on your numbers. Stack the deck in your favor, with 2 or 3 more chances to win, by donating more.

Sorry for no details however I can not delay this post anymore due to this issue.

Biggest Donator

After adding up of everyone’s influence and gold donations at the end of the month of March, the person who is found to be the biggest donator will receive a personalized guild event automatically, ran 4 times, anytime they want, whenever they want by me, Leohan. As well they will be featured on the site as “Member of the Month”, this feature as never been done before.

Art of War

This is the first of the upgrades we need to work on as it unlock all the others through guild merits.  I have spent 20 of my personal gold to be able to have, 10,000 more influence to build Research Art of War Level 5 which was queued in the building process the day the February 26th update went live.  To be clear this was a sacrifice I made for the community, to get the research done right away, even though I have no gold left to make more donations myself for now.

As seen in the picture, the Research Art of War Level 5 is still in the que. However next on the hit list is Guild Bounties Unlock, which will cost 30,000 influence.

Guild Bounty, Your guild is tasked with tracking down and capturing various targets for the Orders. These people are wanted for a variety of reasons and have all sorts of tricks up their sleeves to resist arrest!

Art of War upgrades requiring guild merits give access to a guild boost and the Guild Challenges guild mission type.

Economy

We are not done though, we still have Research Economy Level 5 to get done and then 30 merits and 50,000 influence to unlock a new guild mission type Guild Treks.

Guild Treks, Think you know Tyria? Well the Tyrian Explorer’s Society has a challenge for you! Find the list of locations before time runs out.

Economy upgrades requiring guild merits give access to several banners and guild boosts along with the Guild Treks guild mission type.

Politics

Next in line is Research level 5, with another 50,000 influence.  These guild rushes/ races seem like a lot of fun and would be cool to do.

Guild Rush, is an open world guild mission where guild members will change form (for example, into a chicken or a bear), and be required to pass through a series of markers and get to a finish line within a given time period.

Non-transformed players can assist participating players by clearing or distracting mobs from the path and using boons such as swiftness.

Architecture

Don’t let the last on the list scare you. It may seem to big, but we will not be getting  these upgrades for little while. When all is said and done though I do plan to try and keep Waypoint reduction up as much as possible.

Guild Puzzles, It’s a puzzle and a jumping challenge all in one! This mission type requires multi-group coordination as well as individual jumping skills to get to the treasure at the end.

Architectural upgrades requiring guild merits give access to temporary crafting stations, several banners, and the Guild Puzzle guild mission type.

Missions

Guild merits are earned primarily through participation in guild missions. The amount of guild merits earned varies by guild mission type and tier. There is also a weekly limit to the amount of guild merits a guild can earn through each guild mission type.

Tier 3 Reward 25 Guild Merit.png 10 Guild Merit.png

Rewards

Players representing the guild that started the event will receive the following rewards. These rewards can only be earned once per week per guild mission type. For example, completing 2 guild bounties will only reward one set of rewards, but then completing a guild trek will be rewarded with another set.

Guilds that successfully complete a mission will receive Guild Merits. Like the personal rewards, these are limited to a certain number per week from each mission type.

You cannot receive rewards from guild missions that are started on a world that you are guesting to, even if you are a member of the same guild as the person who starts it.

The once per week restriction on rewards applies per account, not per guild.

Influence

Other ways you can help? Simply play the game with your guild mates.  On the server Isle of Janthir, your home server must be Janthir at all times to gain us influence.

Influence Influence is the currency that guilds spend to purchase boons and other guild-wide upgrades. Influence is earned by participating in events, pvp, or solo content while representing a guild. Coin may also be exchanged for influence at the Guild Promoter.

However, Influence is accrued and spent separately by the guild members on each world. For example, a guild with players in Maguuma, Blacktide, and Riverside will have three different pools of Influence and three different build queues, one for each world.

The primary source of influence is through participation in PvE or PvP:

Attendance

Awarded to the guild being represented by a character when that character logs in. Each character can only give influence in this way once per 24 hours (on a per-character reset timer), and each account can only do so for up to five characters per day.

  • 10 Influence per member for the first 20 members.
  • 5 Influence per member from 20 to 50 members.
  • 1 Influence per each additional member.

The influence is awarded immediately upon login. A summary is added to the History tab once per day.

Participation

These amounts increase depending on the number of guild members in the same party.

  • Events
    • 2 Influence/person for solo. 20 Influence for a group of 2+ guild members. Multiple groups of 2 doing the same event does not cause more than 20 influence to be gained, so there is a maximum of 20 per event.
  • PvP victories
    • 5 Influence/person
    • 50 Influence. For a tourney win for a group of 2+ guild members
  • Dungeon completion
    • 10 Influence/person for individuals
    • 100 Influence for completion by three or more guild members in the party.
 Consumables

Influence Bonus Upgrades

+5% Influence for 24 Hrs. +5% Influence for 24 Hrs. Improves guild influence gain in PvE by 5% for 24 hours. Stacks with other influence bonuses.

This bonus affects all aspects of gaining influence including while using the Guild Promoter or Consumables. Example if you bought, Drinks for a Week! which is normally 10,000 the +5% when activated would have the promoter give the guild 10,500 influence instead.

+10% Influence from Events +10% Influence from Events Hire an event herald to increase the influence your guild earns from doing events for 24 hours.

This bonus affects any orange event in the game, be it dynamic, meta, dungeon or puzzle. If it’s orange text top right of your screen this bonus help generate more than normal. You see this activated when there is 10 or more people online at a time.

+20% Dungeon Influence for 24 Hrs. +20% Dungeon Influence for 24 Hrs. A dungeon survey before beginning will increase dungeon influence reward by 20%. Lasts 24 hours.

This is a special bonus gain for influence as it only affects doing a dungeon. This bonus will only count towards the +20% if it is activated before the instance to the dungeon as begun. You often see this activated during our dungeon guild event days.

+10% PvP Influence for 24 Hours +10% PvP Influence for 24 Hours All influence earned in PvP is increased by 10% for 24 hours.

This affects heart of the Mists and World vs World areas of the game. When we do guild events you will see this activated.

  1. That was a great post Leo. You really explained a lot of how influence works. I’m excited to do some of the guild missions, bounties, rushes and others when we can!

Seeing this also makes me want to change my behavior slightly. I have 5 characters that I have parked at chests, so my routine after server reset is to log in with them first, pick up free goodies then log out. Those aren’t representing because I don’t really play the game with them yet, just get some free greens from a chest. I’ll have to change them all to representing. I didn’t realize that it was based on how you log in, but I thought it was just based on how you actually played.

  2. Anyone that wants to donate guild influence directly don’t forget to check if the 5% influence bonus is up to maximize gains!

    • I did notice, I got 10,500 influence when I purchased my donation, I’ll make sure +5% influence is up at all times.

Will edit news article, mentioning that the guild upgrade +5% influence effects purchasing from Guild Promoter. Thank you for contributing to the knowledge base.
